Draft Saving
« on: February 22, 2017, 09:21:27 am »
OK we now have a Safe as Draft feature. So if you need to come back and write more on a post before finishing it you can!

In order to access your saved Drafts, you must go into your Profile and they will show up there.

That definitely sounds like it could prove useful, especially for longer posts where one gets interrupted midway through, or if one's connection has developed an annoying habit of cutting out unexpectedly.  I've had posts swallowed up that took a long time to write, and then mysteriously vanished when I attempted to post them, to the point that I've developed the habit of copying long posts to Notepad as insurance against losing them before I hit Post, just so I won't have to recreate them from scratch if the upload goes wonky.

Ooh, even better (I just tested this feature), it looks like it can be used to save a post as you go, without closing it out and requiring you to go into your profile to retrieve it.  So it will be good for those who want to post a long, well thought out discussion and save it along the way as they write it, and can be posted immediately once complete.  Or if they don't want to post it immediately, it can be accessed through the profile to post later.  I think I am going to love this new feature.  :-)

I really like the idea of this feature.  I could use a little help finding it. To experiment, I have written three replies and I have previewed them but not posted them. I have attempt to find the safe feature by going to my Profile. So far I have been unsuccessful. What should I be looking for?

It sounds like a great idea, so let me see if I can find the feature.

Sorry, I can't find it.  Do you have to be an administrator?

Opps there was a permissions issue. It was hidden from me at first. Should be there for everyone now

So this is a test.

OK, I must be dumber than a bag of hammers, but I still can't see it.  Where do I need to look?

I'm sure it must be obvious....

When replying to a post, creating a post, or new topic ... there is a Save as Draft option at the bottom right.

See attachment screenshot.

If you click the Save as Draft (instead of Post) the post is saved but not view able on the forum by anyone except the author. It will kinda look like you haven't saved the post at all at that point but there will be a note at the top that it has been saved as a draft.

You can navigate away from the forum and the half written post is saved where you can go back and edit it later. You access it through your Profile link at the top of the forum site.

This is another test

There is no save as draft option available for me.  I only have post and preview.

Sorry to be so difficult....

It's the software that's being difficult with it's hidden settings. But I think I've got them all found now. And this handy feature should be unlocked for everyone now.

Yah! I can now see the "Save as Draft" button.
Jerusha, I was like you earlier in the day, wondering how blind I must be to not figure out where I could find this thing!
I can see it !

Woo hoo!  It's there!  It works!

Many thanks, Bynw!  I think I am going to really like this feature.
