Feb 19 19:08:43 <DesertRose>   Hi KK!
Feb 19 19:08:46 <The_Bee>   Hi KK
Feb 19 19:08:50 <Derynifank>   He has already taken over my husbands favorite chair
Feb 19 19:08:51 <DomMelchior>   G' Evenin' KK
Feb 19 19:08:51 <Laurna>   Hello KK
Feb 19 19:08:53 <KK>   Hello, people!
Feb 19 19:08:58 <Evie>   Hi KK
Feb 19 19:09:06 *   Shiral (~Shiral@OWIRCN-e6adf1cc.ca.comcast.net) has joined
Feb 19 19:09:12 <DesertRose>   BRB, my tea tumbler has gone empty, and I should fix that.
Feb 19 19:09:14 <DesertRose>   Hi Shiral
Feb 19 19:09:14 <Evie>   Hi Shiral
Feb 19 19:09:20 <KK>   DM, I'm glad to see that you haven't drowned yet, or fallen into a sink hole.
Feb 19 19:09:30 <Laurna>   Good to see you Shiral  enjoying the weather?
Feb 19 19:09:30 *   Shiral enters the chat room with a champagne cork pop
Feb 19 19:09:31 <The_Bee>   Hi Shiral!  Are you keeping safe from the floods?
Feb 19 19:09:57 <DomMelchior>   It has been quite damp, but so far nothing catestrphic
Feb 19 19:10:06 <Laurna>   agreed
Feb 19 19:10:06 <Shiral>   Where I am, we have the hatches battened down and we're expecting rain tonight. But right now, it's pretty calm
Feb 19 19:10:23 <Derynifank>   Hi kk. have pictures on my phone if I can figure out how ti get them here
Feb 19 19:10:33 <Evie>   72F and sunny here earlier today, but I was stuck inside with a cold.  :-(
Feb 19 19:10:34 <KK>   I just talked to my sister in Sacramento, and she's likewise battened down.
Feb 19 19:10:35 <Laurna>   I gave up trying to keep the horse stalls dry.
Feb 19 19:10:41 <Shiral>   I'm very glad I bought a place on relatively high ground a good way from SF Bay, though
Feb 19 19:10:54 <The_Bee>   Good!
Feb 19 19:11:07 <Shiral>   But this is a very good lesson on infrastructure maintenance
Feb 19 19:11:12 <DomMelchior>   Yes, the current storm track is headed for the middle of the state
Feb 19 19:11:19 <KK>   Indeed, Shiral.
Feb 19 19:11:33 <Derynifank>   High ground is a good thing right now
Feb 19 19:11:44 <Evie>   You could upload them to a photo hosting site like Flickr and post a link here, Derynifank, or if the photo fits one of our Gallery categories, you could upload it there
Feb 19 19:11:52 <Shiral>   I'm not about to head for Santa Cruz, as highway 17 (the main link between where I am and the coast) is a mudslidey mess
Feb 19 19:11:52 <DomMelchior>   It was pretty bad on Friday, though.  They actually sent us home from work early
Feb 19 19:12:04 <Shiral>   Rained steadily all day on Friday
Feb 19 19:12:20 <Derynifank>   Will try to put in the gallery
Feb 19 19:12:28 <DesertRose>   Oh embuggerance.
Feb 19 19:12:30 <Shiral>   But I don't think I have to build an ark, yet. Might buy an inflatable one,t hough
Feb 19 19:12:33 <Laurna>   Yes  I had a slow drive home on friday night
Feb 19 19:12:40 <KK>   That Orovile dam situation was really scary, with dropping sacks of boulders into the spillway and the dam itself.  I understand that they've brought down the lake level considerably, and that the big danger there seems to have been averted..
Feb 19 19:12:41 <DesertRose>   Is the Sacramento area more or less okay?
Feb 19 19:12:55 <DesertRose>   My aunt lives in Cottonwood.
Feb 19 19:12:58 *   Jerusha (Mibbit@OWIRCN-f2286293.dsl.bell.ca) has joined
Feb 19 19:13:04 <DesertRose>   Hi Jerusha
Feb 19 19:13:06 <Jemler>   hi jerusha
Feb 19 19:13:06 <The_Bee>   Hi Jerusha
Feb 19 19:13:07 <Evie>   Hi Jerusha
Feb 19 19:13:11 <Shiral>   People haven't been washed away, yet, but it's scary
Feb 19 19:13:12 <Jerusha>   Hi Everyone!
Feb 19 19:13:12 *   BalanceTheEnergies (Mibbit@83BF1D.5474AF.0EED19.9C444F) has joined
Feb 19 19:13:17 <DesertRose>   Hi BalanceTheEnergies
Feb 19 19:13:18 <Jemler>   hi bte
Feb 19 19:13:19 <Shiral>   Hi Jerusha and BTE.
Feb 19 19:13:22 <Evie>   Hi BTE
Feb 19 19:13:25 <Laurna>   Hello Jerusha
Feb 19 19:13:29 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Hello all. Sorry I'm late.
Feb 19 19:13:32 <Jerusha>   Hi BtE
Feb 19 19:13:34 <Laurna>   Hello BTE
Feb 19 19:13:36 *   Shiral snaps fingers and the table fills with ice cream "Mudpies"
Feb 19 19:13:45 <KK>   At least the drought seems to have been mostly reversed.
Feb 19 19:13:48 *   Jemler puts out spiced mead and baklava.
Feb 19 19:14:04 <Shiral>   Yes, although our acquifers took a hit.
Feb 19 19:14:14 <DesertRose>   Seems like California either gets damn near no rain or way too freaking much.
Feb 19 19:14:19 *   Laurna adds hot chocolate with marshmallows to the table.
Feb 19 19:14:21 *   Jerusha adds leftover dark chocolate hearts
Feb 19 19:14:27 <Evie>   I could get a glass of wine, but with the coughing I'm doing right now, I'd be afraid of hacking up a lung in mid-swallow
Feb 19 19:14:28 <DomMelchior>   Though the authorities still refuse to lift the emergency drought restrictions
Feb 19 19:14:40 <Shiral>   We weren't thinking we'd get 6 years' worth of drought undone in two months, though
Feb 19 19:14:47 <Jerusha>   Cold, Evie?
Feb 19 19:14:47 <Jemler>   you ok evie?
Feb 19 19:15:06 <Evie>   Just a cold, I think, which is the best of three possible options going around here right now
Feb 19 19:15:20 <Derynifank>   What's going on Evie?
Feb 19 19:15:23 <Laurna>   be well
Feb 19 19:15:27 <The_Bee>   I recently watched an episode of Scorpion that had the team trying to prevent an overflowing dam from flooding a town on Christmas Eve.  It remin ded me of Oroville.
Feb 19 19:15:31 <Evie>   Had a colleague out most of last week with the flu, so I'll take the cold instead, thanks.
Feb 19 19:15:34 *   Jerusha sends for healer Duncan and asks him to pay you a visit
Feb 19 19:15:55 <Shiral>   Let's just say I am VERY grateful not to live downstream of that damn dam
Feb 19 19:16:05 <Laurna>   Hope they did not share with you before they went out.
Feb 19 19:16:13 <KK>   Before I forget, Bookbub has the Camber trilogy for $3.99, today only.  And Quest for St. Camber for $1.99 on the 21st only.
Feb 19 19:16:15 <Evie>   Healer Duncan can't do much for viruses, but he's welcome to bring me a hot toddy and give me a consoling hug. :-D
Feb 19 19:16:23 <BalanceTheEnergies>   We had a similar Robles at my job; I got a lot of OT covering for a flu-ridden cashier
Feb 19 19:16:33 <Laurna>   Thank you KK
Feb 19 19:16:51 <Shiral>   Then you'll have a bishop with a flu, Evie. =o)
Feb 19 19:17:01 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Oops troubles
Feb 19 19:17:09 <Jerusha>   Bishop Duncan is always willing to console one of his flock.:D
Feb 19 19:17:15 <KK>   You should all sign up for Bookbub, to get regular updates on stuff that's available.
Feb 19 19:17:24 <Laurna>   I just bought Bastard prince on e-book.  I thought I already had it but could not find it.
Feb 19 19:17:25 <Evie>   Right now our menu choices are cold, strep throat, and flu.  My throat isn't nearly sore enough for strep, and I don't have the aches, chills, or fever of flu, so I'm going for the cold
Feb 19 19:17:53 <Jerusha>   Cold is better than the others.  And mine is getting better.
Feb 19 19:18:02 <Shiral>   All through January, we were sharing the communal crud at work. Everyone either had it or was waiting to have it or getting over it
Feb 19 19:18:02 <The_Bee>   Whatever you have, Evie, I wish you a swift recovery.
Feb 19 19:18:13 <DomMelchior>   Indeed
Feb 19 19:18:24 <KK>   Cold is by far the best of the 3 options.  Or take some ColdEze, which now comes in chewies as well as lozenges.  I've found that it usually works very well.
Feb 19 19:18:24 <Shiral>   Didn't help that the library heating went on strike for a week
Feb 19 19:18:25 <Evie>   Mine is better right now than it was yesterday, though it gets annoying when I try to lie down, because the cough gets worse.
Feb 19 19:18:49 <Evie>   Yes, we have Coldeze, and also Emergen-C
Feb 19 19:18:54 <Derynifank>   Cold is definitely the least of the evil germs
Feb 19 19:19:09 <DesertRose>   Yeah, of the three, I'd opt for the cold as well.
Feb 19 19:19:11 <Evie>   I haven't seen the chewies version though. Cool!
Feb 19 19:19:26 <DesertRose>   Last week, I seemed to have a cold minus the respiratory misery.  I was just blasted TIRED.
Feb 19 19:19:43 <Jemler>   feeling better dr?
Feb 19 19:19:46 <Jerusha>   That seems to be going around up here too, DR
Feb 19 19:19:48 <Evie>   Yeah, that was me all of yesterday and most of this morning until around 2:00
Feb 19 19:19:54 <DesertRose>   I was sneezing maybe twice a day, so I don't think it really qualified as a cold, although I was intermittently feverish.
Feb 19 19:20:00 <DesertRose>   Yes, thanks, Jemler.
Feb 19 19:20:01 <Evie>   I'm still tired, but able to sit up for a bit
Feb 19 19:20:14 <Jerusha>   Oh my, Evie
Feb 19 19:20:29 <Shiral>   Dmitri has joined me, he sends healing purrs  to those who need them
Feb 19 19:20:38 <KK>   They come in a jar, and don't t taste half bad.
Feb 19 19:20:52 <Jerusha>   Healing purrs come in a jar?
Feb 19 19:20:52 <DesertRose>   I just couldn't stay upright (which included sitting up) for more than about two hours before needing to go lie back down and sleep some more.
Feb 19 19:20:53 <The_Bee>   When DS gets his nursing degree, you can aask him to take care of you, Evie.
Feb 19 19:20:56 <DomMelchior>   Healing purrs come in a jar?
Feb 19 19:21:05 <Shiral>   That would be quite something, purrs in a jar--OH! you were talking about the pills
Feb 19 19:21:14 <Shiral>   =o)\
Feb 19 19:21:18 <DomMelchior>   oops, slow typist here
Feb 19 19:21:21 <Evie>   This started off with just occasional sneezes and a feeling, not quite soreness, back in my throat that I took to be a sign of post-nasal drip.  But after a few days of just that, it got worse. But no fever, so it might not be the same thing you had.
Feb 19 19:21:25 <KK>   We're havinga a new boiler installed, and background heat has been off for a week now.  Supposed to be finished by Tuesday--I hope.
Feb 19 19:21:26 <Laurna>   lol DM I'll take a jar of that
Feb 19 19:21:27 <Jemler>   healing purrs? you must mean kitty kurses! :)
Feb 19 19:21:49 <Shiral>   If you can hear the sea in a seashell, seems to me you should be able to hear purring out of SOMEthing
Feb 19 19:21:54 <Jerusha>   No, kitty nurses
Feb 19 19:22:08 <BalanceTheEnergies>   No need for the jar here. Wimsey has been on the right side of my chest where my lung hurts. I get plenty of pur therapy. :)
Feb 19 19:22:11 <Evie>   This would be a good week to have the heating off here.  72F in wintertime.... *good-natured grumble*
Feb 19 19:22:11 <Derynifank>   I prefer kitty kisses
Feb 19 19:22:12 <DesertRose>   Of course you can hear purring out of something.  I hear purring right now, out of the fuzzball cat on my lap.
Feb 19 19:22:26 <The_Bee>   Hi Carys!
Feb 19 19:22:31 <Laurna>   I hope you're heat is fixed soon KK
Feb 19 19:22:32 <KK>   There's an adorable bit of video that came over my facebook feed, or tiny kittens breaking out of ostrich-sized eggs.  Totally adorable.
Feb 19 19:22:35 <DesertRose>   Carys says Hi and purr.
Feb 19 19:22:56 <KK>   Thank God it's happened while we aren't having snow or really cold weather.
Feb 19 19:23:00 <DomMelchior>   I think I'll have to stick with happy puppy noises.  Rory can be quite talkative when he wants to be.
Feb 19 19:23:16 <Jerusha>   The whippets burrow farther under their blankets and ignore everyone
Feb 19 19:23:27 <The_Bee>   Puppy noises are also good.
Feb 19 19:23:29 <Evie>   There was one on my FB feed of kittens in a shelter in Iceland, I think it was, and the kitten room had what looked like 1:6 or 1:4 scale dollhouse furniture in it
Feb 19 19:23:32 <KK>   brb
Feb 19 19:23:44 <DesertRose>   I can't play any videos with kittens or cats making any noise; Carys has apparently not gotten the memo that she's spayed and she thinks she has to take care of any cats/kittens she hears out of the speakers.
Feb 19 19:24:02 <The_Bee>   LOL Carys!
Feb 19 19:24:07 <Evie>   :-D
Feb 19 19:24:09 <BalanceTheEnergies>   :D
Feb 19 19:24:12 <Laurna>   Sweet Carys
Feb 19 19:24:14 <DesertRose>   Never mind she was spayed in mid December 2015.
Feb 19 19:24:16 <Jerusha>   :D
Feb 19 19:24:17 <Jemler>   have the vet send her a kitty letter.
Feb 19 19:24:40 <Jerusha>   Spayed does not mean all mommy feelings go away
Feb 19 19:25:11 *   Shiral2 (~Shiral@OWIRCN-e6adf1cc.ca.comcast.net) has joined
Feb 19 19:25:14 <Jerusha>   They are just less productive
Feb 19 19:25:16 <DesertRose>   But since she was approximately two years old at that point, chances are quite good that she had a few litters of kittens and thus thinks "mewing kittens means I must take care of them."
Feb 19 19:25:18 <The_Bee>   My neighbor's cat sometimes acts with Melantha as if he doesn't realize he's neutered
Feb 19 19:25:19 <DesertRose>   Hi Shiral2
Feb 19 19:25:24 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Also, neutered does not mean all dominance feelings go away. His Grace still shakes his tail as if he's spraying.
Feb 19 19:25:29 <Shiral2>   Suddenly got disconnected
Feb 19 19:25:37 <Shiral2>   Re hi all
Feb 19 19:25:43 <BalanceTheEnergies>   hello again
Feb 19 19:25:45 <Jerusha>   rehi, Shiral 2
Feb 19 19:25:48 <Jemler>   i'm drinking too much mead. i'm starting to see double.
Feb 19 19:25:50 <KK>   I'm back.
Feb 19 19:25:51 *   Shiral has quit (Ping timeout: 121 seconds)
Feb 19 19:25:58 <DesertRose>   WB, KK
Feb 19 19:26:02 *   Shiral2 is now known as Shiral
Feb 19 19:26:05 <DomMelchior>   Jerusha, you're lucky with blanket burrowing whippets.  My pharaoh hound hates to be under the covers.  He'd rather stay on top of the covers
Feb 19 19:26:10 <The_Bee>   You're here twice, Shiral and Shiral @
Feb 19 19:26:16 <Shiral>   Did everyone get bumped?
Feb 19 19:26:24 <DesertRose>   No, KK said she was going afk for a few.
Feb 19 19:26:42 <Evie>   I read "His Grace still shakes his tail as if he's spraying" and immediately had an image of Alaric shaking his booty.  Good thing I'm not drinking anything right now!
Feb 19 19:26:53 <DesertRose>   Bwahaha
Feb 19 19:26:55 <Jemler>   kk, have you finished the presidents vampire?
Feb 19 19:26:58 <Jerusha>   Oh my, Evie
Feb 19 19:27:05 <Laurna>   Oh No
Feb 19 19:27:07 <Shiral>   It's a real problem when the Duke wants to mark his territory
Feb 19 19:27:11 <KK>   lol Evie.
Feb 19 19:27:19 <The_Bee>   I'm using an antique computer.  Don't be surprised if I vanish suddenly.
Feb 19 19:27:25 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Sorry. I've been calling my cat Wimsey that since the sequel had the character inherit his brother's dukedom
Feb 19 19:27:40 *   DesertRose imagines His Grace the Duke of Corwyn as Robin Williams in Live on Broadway when he's doing the thing with the water bottles.
Feb 19 19:28:06 <KK>   Jemler, I read that one first, and then the second one.  Red, White, and Blood just arrived, but I'm rading Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen right now.  Wow, can she write.
Feb 19 19:28:25 *   Jerusha has a disturbing picture of the Duke of Corwyn marking the boundaries of his dukedom
Feb 19 19:28:31 <DesertRose>   LOL
Feb 19 19:28:31 <The_Bee>   Remind me--author?
Feb 19 19:28:34 <Evie>   Oh, I don't have Gentleman Jole yet! How is it?
Feb 19 19:28:40 <KK>   Disturbing, indeed.
Feb 19 19:28:45 <Evie>   LOL, Jerusha!
Feb 19 19:29:04 <Evie>   That's the newest LMB book, right?
Feb 19 19:29:13 <DomMelchior>   brb
Feb 19 19:29:13 <Evie>   Or am I confusing it with something else?
Feb 19 19:29:18 <KK>   Bujold.
Feb 19 19:29:27 <Jemler>   Bee, Cristopher Farnsworth wrote The Presidents Vampire.
Feb 19 19:29:28 <The_Bee>   Thanks, K
Feb 19 19:29:29 <Evie>   OK. About Cordelia again?
Feb 19 19:29:39 <Laurna>   I am reminded of Cat from Red Dawrf walking around with his purfum bottle spraying it while saying" this is mine, and this is mine"
Feb 19 19:29:39 <The_Bee>   and  thanks jemler
Feb 19 19:30:09 <Evie>   I'm going to have to pick it up when I can afford a copy, or see if our library has it.  LMB books are keepers.
Feb 19 19:30:11 <KK>   There's another one out now, from Bujold.  Gentleman Jole finally became available in paperback so I bought it.
Feb 19 19:30:11 <Jerusha>   He is very good in Death in Paradise, Laura
Feb 19 19:30:35 <Jerusha>   Laurna, I meant
Feb 19 19:30:44 <Evie>   Good to know. What's the newer book? Is it a Vorkosigan book, or one of her other worlds?
Feb 19 19:30:48 <Laurna>   LOL  you had it right Jerusha  lol
Feb 19 19:30:55 <KK>   Another Vorkosigan one, I believe.
Feb 19 19:31:33 <Evie>   Oh noes, I can't get two books behind on my Vorkosisaga!
Feb 19 19:31:55 <DomMelchior>   back
Feb 19 19:31:55 <The_Bee>   KK, when do you hope you'l;l find time to get back to your writing?
Feb 19 19:32:10 <KK>   Next month, perhaps?
Feb 19 19:32:20 <Jerusha>   Yes, any word on the Road to Killingford?
Feb 19 19:32:24 <Laurna>   yes please
Feb 19 19:32:38 <The_Bee>   after taxes?
Feb 19 19:32:41 <Jerusha>   Many, many eyes wanting to read those pages
Feb 19 19:32:51 <Evie>   Waiting for the Road to Killingford to improve after the spring thaw?  :-D
Feb 19 19:32:55 <KK>   I was going to (finally) take down the Christmas tree and decorations today, but then my sister called and we talked for more than 2 hrs.  So much for good intentions.
Feb 19 19:33:12 <Evie>   Just stick hearts on it
Feb 19 19:33:17 <Jerusha>   The Christmas tree is still up?
Feb 19 19:33:20 <Evie>   And next month, shamrocks
Feb 19 19:33:21 <Shiral>   Or shamrocks =o)
Feb 19 19:33:22 <KK>   It's starting to take shape; eager to get stuck back into it.
Feb 19 19:33:36 <Laurna>   At this point just put flowers in the tree for  easter time
Feb 19 19:33:47 <Jerusha>   You could hand a few Easter eggs from the tree
Feb 19 19:33:49 <Shiral>   you could also put purple green and gold Mardi Gras beads on it
Feb 19 19:34:07 <Evie>   I actually know someone who did that with his tree.  It just got decorated throughout the year rather than taken down
Feb 19 19:34:08 <Laurna>   lol
Feb 19 19:34:23 <KK>   Yep.  We left it up for Twelfth Night, as we usually do, but then we had that venison feast on the day, and it took about a week just to clean up fully from that.  (Lots of crystal and china and silver to hand-wash.)
Feb 19 19:34:23 <Evie>   So by the time I saw it, it was a Fourth of July tree
Feb 19 19:34:29 <Jerusha>   I hope it wasn't a real tree
Feb 19 19:34:41 <The_Bee>   or put it outside and trim it with stuff for the birds--if yo don;t think the cats will get them.
Feb 19 19:34:42 <KK>   No, fake, and pre-lit.
Feb 19 19:34:58 <Jerusha>   Oh good
Feb 19 19:35:20 <Laurna>   technically it is still winter time so you're good.
Feb 19 19:35:25 <Shiral>   If it's still up next fall, you can try rolling Halloween Thanksgiving and Christmas all together as your decorating theme. =o)
Feb 19 19:35:33 <Evie>   We haven't had a real tree since we got Luke, since he eats needles, plus they get into the carpet and are a pain to vaccuum out
Feb 19 19:35:43 <Shiral>   Little light up skeletons wearing santa hats, that sort of thing
Feb 19 19:35:55 <KK>   Getting tax matrial together, too--not just for us, but for my father's final and 2 years for my mother.
Feb 19 19:36:10 <BalanceTheEnergies>   I can't really do a tree. Wimsey goes after anything shiny, like he's part magpie.
Feb 19 19:36:12 <Jerusha>   I hate tax time
Feb 19 19:36:15 <Laurna>   How is your mom doing KK?
Feb 19 19:36:16 <Evie>   Wow, lots of numbers crunching
Feb 19 19:36:20 <KK>   The tree will unhappen this week.
Feb 19 19:36:27 <Shiral>   I didn't put a tree up, this year. I'm sure Tatiana would have been fascinated. Our cat Luna used to CLIMB the tree
Feb 19 19:36:32 <Derynifank>   How is your mom doing kk?
Feb 19 19:36:33 <Jerusha>   The in-tree
Feb 19 19:36:41 <The_Bee>   My sister had an artificial tree with color-changing lights.
Feb 19 19:36:44 <KK>   Mother is doing considerably better than she was a month or so ago.
Feb 19 19:36:46 <Jerusha>   un-tree, I meant
Feb 19 19:36:49 <Evie>   Luke won't climb a Christmas tree, he just likes to lie under it and bat the lowest ornaments, so we put the stuffed or plastic ones down there
Feb 19 19:37:15 <Shiral>   My fireplace has become the focus of Christmas decorations instead
Feb 19 19:37:19 <Evie>   Good that she's improving
Feb 19 19:37:26 <KK>   We set up the tree in the library, which is closed off to critters except when we're in there, so decorations are mostly safe.
Feb 19 19:37:35 <Jerusha>   Yes, KK, glad to know she is doing better
Feb 19 19:37:55 <Laurna>   I have been experiencing something similar with my dad for the last several months.  Now he moved in with me.
Feb 19 19:37:58 <Evie>   I just decorated the dollhouse this year. Since we were spending Christmas out of state, there was little point in putting up the big tree
Feb 19 19:37:59 <KK>   Has even asked about going with me to Curves; wants to exercise.
Feb 19 19:38:06 <The_Bee>   How are your mom's spirits, KK?
Feb 19 19:38:13 <Evie>   Although I still haven't taken my dollhouse Christmas decor down.
Feb 19 19:38:19 <Shiral>   Anything on the floor can amuse Tati. We shared a bottle of bubbly on Christmas Eve--she's been having fun batting the cork around, ever since
Feb 19 19:38:51 <KK>   Spirits are much improved.  She went through a rocky patch right after Christmas, but things have changed dramatically in the past 3 weeks or so.
Feb 19 19:39:06 <Shiral>   Glad to hear she's feeling better on all fronts!
Feb 19 19:39:10 <Jerusha>   Does the slight scent of champagne make it more interesting?
Feb 19 19:39:25 <Derynifank>   So glad she is progressing,kk
Feb 19 19:39:26 <Shiral>   I don't know, but she likes the weird way it rolls.
Feb 19 19:40:07 <The_Bee>   I've tried several toys with Melantha.   Once she realizes they're harmless, she ignores them.
Feb 19 19:40:22 <Laurna>   lol so cat like
Feb 19 19:40:26 <Jerusha>   DS3
Feb 19 19:40:40 <Jerusha>   Let's try that again
Feb 19 19:40:46 <Evie>   Gigi likes to play with toys occasionally.  Luke shows little interest in them, although he's crazy for empty boxes
Feb 19 19:40:47 <The_Bee>   For a while she liked twist ties.
Feb 19 19:40:50 <Shiral>   She's also recovered her jingle ball, she loves playing soccer tournaments with it downstairs during the wee hours
Feb 19 19:40:53 <Jerusha>   DS3's new puppy adores all of the dog toys
Feb 19 19:41:24 <Laurna>   Ahhh that is the joy of puppyhood
Feb 19 19:41:59 <Laurna>   then they grow up and annihilate their toys.
Feb 19 19:42:34 <Jerusha>   Shi Tzu-poodle mix.  I have never seen such a happy puppy tail
Feb 19 19:42:57 <The_Bee>   Melantha's growing old.  She'd ratrher curl up in my lap than chase a ball.

Feb 19 19:43:14 <KK>   Our guys have a basket wher their toys live, and periodically they go and root around in the basket until they find the particular toy they're looking for, and they play.
Feb 19 19:43:15 <The_Bee>   Hi TD
Feb 19 19:43:17 <Evie>   Hi Deer!

Feb 19 19:43:52 <Shiral>   Hi TD, Happy Birthday
Feb 19 19:45:08 <DesertRose>   Merlin (parents' younger cat) has a toy basket, and my daughter's godson (just turned five) thinks it's fun to throw the cat toys for Merlin.
Feb 19 19:46:19 <Evie>   Happy natal anniversary
Feb 19 19:46:19 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Hello TD
Feb 19 19:46:19 <The_Bee>   Happy Birthday, TD

Feb 19 19:46:19 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Yes, Happy B-day
Feb 19 19:48:19 <DomMelchior>   Rory destroyed about every dog toy er ever got him  The joys of a hound.
Feb 19 19:48:19 <Evie>   Gigi does that, KK. Not that she ever puts them back up where they belong
Feb 19 19:48:19 <TheDeryni>   Hi all! And thank you.
Feb 19 19:48:19 <Jerusha>   This is a good thing
Feb 19 19:48:19 <The_Bee>   Does Merlin chase them?
Feb 19 19:48:19 <Evie>   Every once in a while, if the house begins to look like a cat toy factory exploded, I pitch them all back in their bin, and Gigi happily fishes them back out again and strews them everywhere
Feb 19 19:48:19 <KK>   Of course not.  We have to gather them up periodically.  Or sometimes our cleaning lady picks them up and re-stashes them.

Feb 19 19:48:19 <Evie>   Hi Eyikl
Feb 19 19:48:19 <Jerusha>   We trip over them regularly
Feb 19 19:48:19 <DomMelchior>   Speaking of pets, did anyone else (beside Andy and I, giant dog-geeks that we are) watch the Westminster Dog Show last week?
Feb 19 19:48:19 <Shiral>   Tati and Dmitri especially love their fishing pole type toys. their favorite has a black felt bat
Feb 19 19:48:19 <Jerusha>   Yes, I did
Feb 19 19:48:19 <DomMelchior>   It was nice to see some of the more popular breeds selected for Group wins for a change
Feb 19 19:48:19 <Jerusha>   Another giant dog-geek
Feb 19 19:48:31 <DomMelchior>   (Said the man with the rare breed dog)
Feb 19 19:48:35 <The_Bee>   A German shepherd named Rumor won best in show, I believe.
Feb 19 19:48:57 <DesertRose>   Hi Eyikl
Feb 19 19:49:02 <Jerusha>   Some breeds never seem to get into the spotlight
Feb 19 19:49:03 <Laurna>   I didn't have my TV set up as I gave mine to my dad.  I hoped to catch the dog show on the computer
Feb 19 19:49:12 <DesertRose>   It depends on Merlin's mood.
Feb 19 19:49:14 <DomMelchior>   Yes, though I thought the boxer was nicer.  But what do I know
Feb 19 19:49:25 <Jerusha>   There was a very nice Cavalier, Laurna
Feb 19 19:49:30 <Shiral>   Afraid I missed the dog show. Although I've gone to dog shows at the Cow Palace. My favorite event was the Dachshund race
Feb 19 19:49:35 <Jerusha>   I really liked the boxer
Feb 19 19:49:46 <Laurna>   Cool  i want to watch the breed show part
Feb 19 19:50:17 <DomMelchior>   You can go to the Westminster Kennel Club site and watch them there
Feb 19 19:50:29 <Shiral>   Every now and then, I flirt with the idea of having a dog. But I haven't wanted to make the commitment, yet
Feb 19 19:50:29 <The_Bee>   My favorite doggy tv show is Extreme Pets. The dogs  look like they're having fun.
Feb 19 19:50:30 <Laurna>   we dont have anything to show this year  so I miss going to dog shows
Feb 19 19:50:37 <KK>   They do Basset races at our annual Basset Ramble, here in Virginia.  Very funny to watch.  Sopme of the hounds actually finish the race.
Feb 19 19:50:56 <Jerusha>   I am too nervous to show my dogs. It means too much
Feb 19 19:51:17 <DomMelchior>   We stopped after we got Rory his championship.  It was nice, but its a lot of work
Feb 19 19:51:17 *   TheDeryni is now known as TD-afk
Feb 19 19:51:17 <Laurna>   LOL  I would love to see a Basset race.  So can imagine the floop of those ears.
Feb 19 19:51:22 <Jerusha>   Lure coursing is fun, though
Feb 19 19:51:40 <DomMelchior>   Rory loved it though
Feb 19 19:51:50 <Shiral>   I never think of Bassets as being "built for speed" though
Feb 19 19:51:57 <DomMelchior>   He enjoyed seeing the other dogs and all the people
Feb 19 19:52:17 <The_Bee>   What b reed is Rory?
Feb 19 19:52:17 <DomMelchior>   We coursed him too.
Feb 19 19:52:34 <Jerusha>   Mine were as neurotic as their owner :/
Feb 19 19:52:58 <KK>   Booker, who is half-Entelbucher mountain dog, is amazingly fast--but then, his Swiss ancestors were bred as cattle hearding dogs.
Feb 19 19:53:00 <Jemler>   as far as the dachshund race, the idea of watching oscar, mayer and armour running with with hebrew national sounds kinda funny. i relish the thought of them mustard at the start of the race!
Feb 19 19:53:08 <DomMelchior>   He got his coursing championship in just three runs.  But I don't like the course they have near us.  Too rough
Feb 19 19:53:12 <Laurna>   We have a one year old that we want to show, but he needs to put on a better hair coat first
Feb 19 19:53:22 <DomMelchior>   Rory is a Pharaoh Hound, Bee.
Feb 19 19:53:39 <The_Bee>   oh ,yes, thanks
Feb 19 19:53:49 <KK>   He looks just like the dogs depicted in Egyptian tomb carvings.
Feb 19 19:53:53 <Jerusha>   Related to JessaƉ

Feb 19 19:54:14 <Jemler>   i had to repeat myself.
Feb 19 19:54:22 <DomMelchior>   No, but he'll settle for squirrels.

Feb 19 19:55:31 <Laurna>   lol
Feb 19 19:55:40 <Shiral>   My cats love to watch hummingbirds at the feeder--those flying snacks provide a lot of entertainment
Feb 19 19:55:44 <Laurna>   Cool dog
Feb 19 19:56:01 <KK>   Does he eat them, or is he too well fed for that?  (Our dogs will eat a squirrel if they catch it; or a chipmunk, or a mouse, or a bird.  Didn't try the possum, though.)
Feb 19 19:56:02 <DomMelchior>   Anubis doesn't like it when he catches Pharaohs, Evie
Feb 19 19:56:03 <Jemler>   i think DM starts thinking of Rocky and Bullwinkle when that happens.
Feb 19 19:56:19 <DomMelchior>   He swallowed the last one whole
Feb 19 19:56:34 <Laurna>   Poor Pharaoh
Feb 19 19:56:35 <DomMelchior>   Head first, like a snake

Feb 19 19:57:36 <Jemler>   did it taste like chicken?

Feb 19 19:57:44 <DomMelchior>   I didn't ask
Feb 19 19:57:45 <The_Bee>   I had n uncle who'd try any food--once.
Feb 19 19:58:30 <KK>   On that note, I must go watch Mercy Street.  See you guys next week, God willing.
Feb 19 19:58:38 <Jemler>   nite kk
Feb 19 19:58:40 <DomMelchior>   Take care
Feb 19 19:58:42 <DesertRose>   PJ (my parents' older cat) likes to hunt snakes.  Not eat them, just hunt them.
Feb 19 19:58:43 <Laurna>   Good night KK

"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
