Feb 05 17:39:56 <EPCarpenter>   Thankfully my Dad went quickly this summer. He had a nasty carcinoma on his back, and before he started treatment he suffered a massive heart attack and passed almost instantly- I don't thiunk he even felt the ground when he hit. I'm thankful for that.

Feb 05 17:41:07 <Evie>   My grandfather died of throat cancer, for the same cause, although at least he made it to his late nineties first. When asked if he wanted to go through surgery, he asked, "Why, how much longer do you expect you can keep me around?"  :-D  (He was 97, I think.)
Feb 05 17:41:11 <EPCarpenter>   The best. The family took a road trip down to Maryland to see his brother, my Uncle Jim, and his family. We had a wonderful day together, and the best talks on the way there and back. Three days later he was gone.

I played a hunch, researched the man I suspected him to be, and found handwriting samples in my suspect's Civil War records at NARA in DC. The handwriting matches Leslie's.

I haven't decided whether I will divide it into two parts- An examination of the two men and the supporting evidence for them being one in the same, and then a narrative biography, or whether I will just go chapter to chapter in a timeline and fill in all blanks on both scores for the years under analysis
