Jan 29 19:14:43 <KK>   Good on ya, DR!  Back when I was dating, I always felt that kissing a guy who smoked must be sort of like kissing an ashtray.  Yuck!  Never would date a smoker.  That was a deal-breaker from the get-go.

Jan 29 19:18:32 <Evie>   Nicotine is extremely addictive, and the habit is very hard to break for some people.  In recovery ministry, if someone is trying to break free from alcohol and/or drug addiction in addition to a nicotine addiction, we don't even try to address the nicotine addiction until after recovery from the other chemical addictions is well underway.

One of DD's friends recognized your name as someone whose books he'd read.

Jan 29 19:30:32 <Evie>   Mists of Avalon was one of the few books I ever ended up throwing at a wall, along with The Crystal Star by Vonda McIntyre.  And John Steinbeck's Arthurian tales, but in that case it wasn't because I hated them, but because he died before he finished the cycle and left me hanging, and the publisher went ahead and published the incomplete book anyway.

Jan 29 19:36:04 <KK>   Right now, I'm reading a book called Eighty Days, about a race around the world in the lage 1880's by two young female newspaper writers starting off from NTC in opposite directions, to see if going around the world in less than 80 days could be done, a la Jules Verne.  The guy is an excellent writer, with grat descriptions.
Jan 29 19:36:10 <Evie>   I love strong female characters, but the ones in TCS were only "strong" because the male characters were all turned into weak idiots who had to be rescued by the Strong Kickass Women.  I adored Leia because she was strong, but I also adored Luke and Han because they were strong as well, so I found it very insulting to men.
