. . . but I seem to have acquired a case of strep throat.  It isn't life-threatening, but it is painful.

The problem is that aside from the sore throat and lack of energy, I don't feel really bad--I just don't feel all that GOOD.

The doctor gave me some antibiotics and told me to lie low for a few days.

Strep throat sucks!  Take your full course of antibiotics, do whatever soothes your throat (hot tea during the day, hot toddy around bedtime?  warm salt water gargles?), and rest for a while.

I'm glad you went to the doctor about it, because while strep isn't a huge deal if it gets treated promptly, untreated strep can develop into rheumatic fever, which can damage your joints and your heart.  Nothing to play around with there!

I hope you feel better soon!

I know it seems so early in the season to be catching that kind of thing, but with school kids going off to school already, I am starting to hear other people catching the"bug" too.
Good time to stay in bed and read.
Get well Elkhound.

Odd thing--when I was teaching school I didn't get these little infections from the kids.  I don't associate with the little ankle-biters any more than I can help any more, but I got it anyway.

I was recovering nicely from the strep, then late afternoon on Saturday I my throat started to hurt again, then I developed a runny nose and cough.  By that night my lungs were all congested and  I was coughing.  I spent Sunday and Monday (Labor Day here in the States for our Transatlantic friends) in bed or in front of the TV dosed up on NyQuel.  Felt better except for the cough,so went to work Tuesday where I was recieved like Typhoid Mary.  The doctor didn't have an opening until this PM, so I took yesterday and today off.

On top of everything the gout in my left foot is flaring up, so I can hardly walk.

Liver Flushes are supposed to help alleviate Gout (and many other ailments) as well as to overall increase your body's natural abilities to fight off afflictions by cleaning out your body's filter, the Liver.  Think of it as your cars oil filter, you change that regularly, cleaning it allows it to operate at max efficiency.  I've personally had some of the positive side effects like clarity of mind, increased immunity, overall well being etc  Hope your doing better!

Never heard of a liver flush.  Is this a medical procedure, or some sort of homeopathic/naturopathic/herbalist thing?

In any case, he's told me to rest up and has given me some medication, which seems to be working except it makes me sleepy.  Fortunately, I don't have to drive anywhere.

It's a procedure that you do at home. I read the book, made sense to me, performed the series of flushes over the course of 2+ years, and found much of what Andreas said, came true for me.  Hope your doing better.

Do you have a link for the book?

I didn't sleep at all, hardly, last night.  Every time I almost dropped off, my left leg would sort of spasm--not a cramp, exactly; it didn't hurt--more like a twitch of all the muscles; but it was enough to wake me up.  I finally fell asleep around 4:00 am and slept until about 9:00  am.  I also napped this afternoon, so I'm feeling much better.

Had a saga to get my medicine.  My insurance wouldn't cover the medicine he prescribed at first, so I had to call the office and tell the nurse, who had to get to the doctor (who was with another patient) and have him choose something else and call the pharmacy.  AAARRRAAAUUGGHH!

First day back at work.  Still kind of foggy due to the drugs.  Get fatigued easily.

Doctor wants me to go for a chest CT.  Don't know why.

A CT shows more detail than a regular x-ray, so maybe the doctor saw something on x-ray that warrants a more detailed look?  (That doesn't sound particularly hopeful, but might make sense.)

I hope you start to feel better soon!

The test itself wasn't all that much. Hope to get results sometime next week.
