Jan 31 19:04:56 <The_Bee>   Hi shiral
Jan 31 19:04:56 <Shiral>   Hello all
Jan 31 19:05:00 <The_Bee>   Hi KK!
Jan 31 19:05:08 <KK>   Hello, all.
Jan 31 19:05:09 <Evie>   hi Shiral
Jan 31 19:05:16 <Evie>   hi KK
Jan 31 19:05:19 <Eyikl>   Hi KK
Jan 31 19:05:35 <Shiral>   Hello, KK/ Didn't even have time to set up the shortbread before the ArcAngels before you arrived. =o)
Jan 31 19:06:02 <DesertRose>   Hi KK
Jan 31 19:06:10 <KK>   Anyone in the path of the next storm barreling northward?
Jan 31 19:06:13 <Evie>   Jemler asked me to tell everyone hello. He is still in the hospital, but hopes he might be able to go home tomorrow.
Jan 31 19:06:26 <DesertRose>   Demercia also asked that I send her regards; she went to bed.
Jan 31 19:06:33 <Shiral>   No storm here, but it's very chilly and windy, today
Jan 31 19:06:40 <DesertRose>   Not I, with regards to the storm.
Jan 31 19:06:46 *   The_Bee sends wellness woodgies to Jemler.
Jan 31 19:06:47 <KK>   I saw his post on Facebook.  What put him in the hospital this time?
Jan 31 19:06:56 <DesertRose>   Oh, and revanne said to say a general hello.
Jan 31 19:06:58 <Eyikl>   I haven't heard about the snowstorm, so I think not.
Jan 31 19:07:02 <DesertRose>   I think a bedsore, KK.
Jan 31 19:07:13 <KK>   Oh, dear.
Jan 31 19:07:28 <DesertRose>   It seems to be a chronic problem for him because of the wheelchair.
Jan 31 19:07:35 <KK>   Poor thing doesn't get the breaks, does he?
Jan 31 19:07:41 <DesertRose>   Apparently not, poor guy.
Jan 31 19:07:41 <The_Bee>   Yes, it would  be.
Jan 31 19:08:53 <KK>   So what have the est of you been doing, besides digging out from the last storm?  (Or maybe battening down against rain, in Shiral's case.)
Jan 31 19:09:02 <KK>   rest of you
Jan 31 19:09:07 <DesertRose>   He was making jokes on Facebook earlier in the week about needing a "tushy transplant."
Jan 31 19:09:13 <Shiral>   Staying dry, but really happy to GET rain
Jan 31 19:09:23 <The_Bee>   warmm weather here.  Next storm paobably rain.
Jan 31 19:09:29 <Shiral>   Other than that, working on my newest project
Jan 31 19:09:43 <Evie>   We got up to 70 F here today, I think.  Or at least 69F for sure
Jan 31 19:09:55 <Evie>   Felt unseasonably warm, not that I'm complaining
Jan 31 19:09:55 <Shiral>   Poor Jemler. It quiets things down here too much when we have nobody to fling fish at
Jan 31 19:10:05 <The_Bee>   We had a musicale service in church today.  Various members singing or playing instruments.
Jan 31 19:10:09 <DesertRose>   It's been semi-warm here for the last few days, but it's overcast and dreary which makes me want to nap.
Jan 31 19:10:13 <Eyikl>   Reading. And moving things.
Jan 31 19:10:23 <DesertRose>   Oh, I bet that was cool, Bee.
Jan 31 19:10:27 <The_Bee>   what things?
Jan 31 19:10:43 <Evie>   Continuing to declutter various areas of my house
Jan 31 19:10:59 <The_Bee>   There was going to be a flutist, but she dropped and broke her flute.
Jan 31 19:11:08 <KK>   I actually dis-decorated the tree this afternoon, so that Scott can take it down and put it away for the year.  Goes to show what kind of month it's been.  But I did get it done before the end of Jaunary.  :-)
Jan 31 19:11:11 <Shiral>   I never seem able to declutter one area without adding clutter somewhere else
Jan 31 19:11:30 <Eyikl>   seating risers, mostly.
Jan 31 19:11:30 <DesertRose>   Wow, KK, and my mom thought she was the last person in the US to take down her tree.  :)
Jan 31 19:11:38 <Shiral>   Gracious, you HAVE had a busy January!
Jan 31 19:11:49 <Evie>   LOL, KK!  I knew someone who never got around to taking his tree down, but he just decided to decorate it for different holidays throughout the year
Jan 31 19:11:52 <The_Bee>   I gather yours is artificial, KK?
Jan 31 19:11:53 <KK>   I hear you, Shiral.  I've also been packing away the previous year's staterments and such, and trying to get ready for tax prep.
Jan 31 19:12:46 <KK>   Yep, it's artificial and pre-lit.  Stringing lights was probably the most time-consuming of the old tree procedure.
Jan 31 19:13:02 <Shiral>   Ah yes, taxes I have a folder into whic go all my tax documents.
Jan 31 19:13:20 <Evie>   At the moment there's a pile of boxes in the hallway of things that are to be donated elsewhere, but we've been too busy getting ready for yesterday's SCA event to take it anywhere.
Jan 31 19:13:22 <DesertRose>   My stepdad said if he ever built a house to his specifications, he'd build a tiny room off the living room into which he could just wheel the pre-lit tree.
Jan 31 19:13:24 <Shiral>   which, darn rented fingers
Jan 31 19:13:31 <The_Bee>   Remember the bad old days when, if one bulb on the string was dead, the whole string was dark?
Jan 31 19:13:51 <DesertRose>   Bee, do you remember that parody Christmas song, "The Twelve Pains of Christmas?"
Jan 31 19:13:55 <Eyikl>   My Christmas tree lights are still like that.
Jan 31 19:14:01 <DesertRose>   "One goes out, they ALL go out!"
Jan 31 19:14:10 <Shiral>   I never put UP a tree, but I did put up strings of lights and I had a wreath on my front door.
Jan 31 19:14:15 <KK>   I probably over-document, but if I'm ever audited, I'm prepared!
Jan 31 19:14:40 <Evie>   Better to be overprepared than underprepared
Jan 31 19:14:41 <The_Bee>   No, DR.  But I know a few verses of the Muppets' vweasion of 12 days of christmas.
Jan 31 19:14:42 <KK>   Hated those old series lights.
Jan 31 19:14:43 <Shiral>   Better that than handing the tax man a shoebox. =o)
Jan 31 19:14:48 <DesertRose>   With documentation (especially where the IRS is concerned) better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Jan 31 19:14:57 <KK>   Amen, DR!
Jan 31 19:15:26 <The_Bee>   I never have a tree because I'm in Vermont with family for Christmas. I have lights in my window.
Jan 31 19:15:36 <Shiral>   You pay, one way or another. But keeping good records is a big part of keeping things efficient and knowing where you stand
Jan 31 19:15:53 <DesertRose>   I don't bother with a tree in my apartment either.  I hang bells on my front door and put a Santa sleigh on my dining table and that's it.
Jan 31 19:15:54 <Shiral>   Fewer nasty surprises, that way
Jan 31 19:15:55 <KK>   Good compromise, Bee.
Jan 31 19:16:26 <The_Bee>   I don't know if I'll have to file this year or not.  My income may be below the minimum.
Jan 31 19:16:34 <Eyikl>   Shiral, I think that's called the Law of the Conservation of Clutter.
Jan 31 19:16:37 <Evie>   We didn't have a chance to put up our regular tree this year, but after I put the tiny 1:6 Christmas tree for the Mini-Deryni in the middle of our Christmas packages as a joke, DH decided to replace it with a two-foot-tall Christmas tree he bought for his old trailer and never used.
Jan 31 19:16:42 <Shiral>   If I brought home a Christmas tree, there would be no way to keep Dmitri from investigating/destroying it
Jan 31 19:17:06 <DesertRose>   LOL, Shiral.  My parents are always fighting that battle with Merlin.  PJ pretty much leaves the tree alone.
Jan 31 19:17:44 <Shiral>   Since I have no interior door that can shut off the living room and keep the furry home demolition crew out
Jan 31 19:17:51 <DesertRose>   LOL
Jan 31 19:18:03 <Evie>   LOL
Jan 31 19:18:17 <DesertRose>   Yeah, the way my parents' house is laid out, there's no way to keep the cats out of the living room without confining them to another room or the garage.
Jan 31 19:18:22 <KK>   With just 3 of us this year, it almost wasn't worth putting up a tree.  But doesn't seem like Christmas without one, even if it's just a place around which to open presents.
Jan 31 19:18:39 <Shiral>   Eyikl, I think you're right. But whenever I try to declutter, I find layers of clutter that need carbon dating
Jan 31 19:18:55 <DesertRose>   BRB
Jan 31 19:19:19 <Evie>   LOL, Shiral!  Sounds like my house.  *sigh*
Jan 31 19:19:26 <The_Bee>   I sometimes find clothes I'd forgotten I had.  It's like getting new stuff.
Jan 31 19:19:31 <Shiral>   I miss having a tree. But since none of the family whoop de do was happening at my house, I didn't get my fertilizer sufficiently coagulated to go buy one
Jan 31 19:19:32 <Eyikl>   Funny, my cats just knock down the ornaments they can reach from the ground.
Jan 31 19:19:55 <KK>   Our house had an open archway between the entry hall and the drawing room, so new glazed doors were one of the first things we added, to keep dogs and cats out of that room unless we were using it.  And the library connects, so the new doors also keep them out of there unless we're there to supervise.
Jan 31 19:20:15 <The_Bee>   Melantha usually leaves my sister's tree alone--I think.
Jan 31 19:20:20 <Shiral>   That's what Dmitri would do. But he's a big, strong cat, and he could do some damage if he were to put his furry head to the job.
Jan 31 19:21:03 <The_Bee>   Any cats actually climb the tree?
Jan 31 19:21:17 <Eyikl>    Sounds like you have a fancy house KK.
Jan 31 19:21:37 <KK>   Kittens often do.  Adults cats usually don't, once they get to a certain age.  Of course some cats never reach that age.
Jan 31 19:21:47 <Shiral>   When I was growing up, Luna, our cat at the time, would climb the trunk of Christmas trees until she grew too old
Jan 31 19:21:57 <The_Bee>   An adult cat can be heavy.
Jan 31 19:22:03 <KK>   House is a historic one, with oldest part dating from the late 1700's, Eyikl.
Jan 31 19:22:17 <Eyikl>   Wow.
Jan 31 19:22:35 <Evie>   Wow!
Jan 31 19:22:43 <Shiral>   KK lives with style. =o)
Jan 31 19:23:01 <The_Bee>   Is it officially designated a historic landmark?
Jan 31 19:23:37 <Shiral>   Funny to think your present house in the "new world" is even older than your house was in Ireland.
Jan 31 19:24:09 <KK>   Major part is from about 1820.  Of course, the whole thing was taken apart and moved from downtown, and reassembled on its present site, wings added on either end and rooms rejigged to add things like bathrooms and a kitchen.  Previously those functions had separate buildings behind the house.
Jan 31 19:25:08 <Evie>   Sounds like quite an undertaking!
Jan 31 19:25:19 <KK>   I don't think the oldest part bears much resemblance to what it was then.  The main house is of similar age to Holybrooke, but totally different style and materials.
Jan 31 19:25:23 <Shiral>   Dmitri has arrived to tell everyone that he's not nearly as destructive as I make him sound
Jan 31 19:25:43 <The_Bee>   They had slave labor to do it then.

Jan 31 19:26:01 <Shiral>   Hi Jerusha
Jan 31 19:26:02 <KK>   Gus is on my lap, and says he never climbs trees inside.  (Outside is another matter entirely.)
Jan 31 19:26:04 <Evie>   hi Jerusha
Jan 31 19:26:07 <Jerusha>   Hi Everyone!
Jan 31 19:26:11 <Eyikl>   Hi Jerusha
Jan 31 19:26:19 <DesertRose>   Hi Jerusha.
Jan 31 19:26:27 <Shiral>   Dmitri blinks his greetings to Gus
Jan 31 19:26:50 <KK>   Gus blinks back and goes "Mrrrrt."
Jan 31 19:27:30 <Shiral>   "Ek-ek" Dmitri replies. That's how he sounds when he feels inquisitive
Jan 31 19:28:07 <The_Bee>   I thought that was what cats said when they see prey they can't get.
Jan 31 19:28:36 <Shiral>   Oh Dmitri has quite a vocabulary. He rarely shuts up when awake.
Jan 31 19:28:37 <The_Bee>   Melantha ek-ek-ed at a bird on our porch.
Jan 31 19:28:54 <DesertRose>   Ah, Dmitri's one of those mouthy cats.  :)
Jan 31 19:29:04 <Shiral>   VERY!
Jan 31 19:29:07 <Eyikl>   What type of cat is Dmitri?
Jan 31 19:29:30 <KK>   Gus is also very talkative.  I can have quite a conversation with him.

Jan 31 19:29:52 <Jerusha>   Hi BTE
Jan 31 19:29:52 <The_Bee>   long time no see
Jan 31 19:29:53 <Shiral>   He's a basic animal shelter rescue short-haired moggy. He's a big guy, too. I think he's about 15-18 pounds, but I don't know for sure.
Jan 31 19:29:56 <DesertRose>   Hi BalanceTheEnergies.
Jan 31 19:30:02 <DesertRose>   Merlin is a talker too.
Jan 31 19:30:02 <Shiral>   I just know that when he sits on me, I feel it
Jan 31 19:30:06 <Evie>   hi BttE
Jan 31 19:30:07 <Shiral>   Hi BTE
Jan 31 19:30:17 <Eyikl>   Hi BTE
Jan 31 19:30:31 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Hello all! I'm using the common room wifi on an iPad, but I'm back.
Jan 31 19:30:38 <DesertRose>   Welcome back!
Jan 31 19:30:43 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Ta!
Jan 31 19:30:46 <Jerusha>   Welcome!
Jan 31 19:31:01 <Shiral>   Nice to see you chatting again, BTE
Jan 31 19:31:16 <The_Bee>   How have you been?
Jan 31 19:31:19 *   Shiral sets up a tea table with shortbread cookies
Jan 31 19:31:50 *   The_Bee adds hott mulled and cold cider.
Jan 31 19:31:58 <Jerusha>   Jerusha offers toll house cookie bars
Jan 31 19:32:00 <Shiral>   Dmitri and I often chat in the same way, KK
Jan 31 19:32:33 <Eyikl>   Eyikl adds spice cake.
Jan 31 19:32:56 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Nice to be back. I've been a bit busy at work, and it's caucus night tomorrow. I had to move, too. Footed bathtubs are charming, but also dangerous when they're taller than one's knees.
Jan 31 19:33:17 <BalanceTheEnergies>   How have you lot been?
Jan 31 19:33:27 <The_Bee>   caucus?  ARe you in Iowa?
Jan 31 19:33:46 <Shiral>   Have you been attacked by a bathtub, BTE?
Jan 31 19:33:48 <BalanceTheEnergies>   I am in IA
Jan 31 19:34:47 <BalanceTheEnergies>   No Shiral, but I nearly broke my neck getting out of one. I have since moved to a newer building with a wider safer tub.
Jan 31 19:34:58 <DesertRose>   Ouch!
Jan 31 19:35:04 <Shiral>   Wise of you!
Jan 31 19:35:05 <Jerusha>   Eek
Jan 31 19:35:10 <The_Bee>   You can relax while you're here.  This chatroom is politically neutral territory.
Jan 31 19:35:17 <DesertRose>   indeed
Jan 31 19:35:24 <Jerusha>   With no footed bathtubs
Jan 31 19:35:51 <The_Bee>   unless you're Hubert.
Jan 31 19:35:55 <KK>   We had a claw-footed bathtub in one of our guest bathrooms, but I had it replaced with a nice, big shower.  Too dangerous to get in and out of--and my mother is the main one who was using it then.  Not a good thing for an 80-year-old.  We are s hower folk, not bath folk.
Jan 31 19:36:12 <The_Bee>   me too
Jan 31 19:36:24 <Jerusha>   ditto
Jan 31 19:36:25 <DesertRose>   I like a bath every so often but not at the risk of breaking my neck.
Jan 31 19:36:31 <KK>   Have never liked baths.
Jan 31 19:36:43 <Shiral>   I love a hot bath now and then, but only when I carve out enough time to enjoy it. For efficiency and water conservation, I usually get clean with a shower.
Jan 31 19:37:05 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Good. My cell won't stop ringing with out-of-state numbers I don't recognize. As for the bathtub, I'm not 80 or close to it, but the room was so small that half the length of the tub was blocked by the sink's cabinet. I suspect that contributed to my fall.
Jan 31 19:37:20 <Shiral>   I was one of those kids who had half a navy in the bathtub with me.
Jan 31 19:37:29 <DesertRose>   LOL, Shiral
Jan 31 19:37:30 <The_Bee>   Lat time I used to bathe was when the tub faucet leaked. I'd wake up to a tub full of nice, hot water.
Jan 31 19:38:15 <Evie>   I was one of those kids who used to smuggle bugs into the house inside my shirt so they could ride around in the bathtub in my plastic boat.
Jan 31 19:38:16 <BalanceTheEnergies>   I'm considering adding a stool, but nothing with the overtly-hospital look. I've seen a teak one I like on Amazon.
Jan 31 19:38:22 <KK>   I did that a bit too, Shiral, but that was long ago and far away.
Jan 31 19:38:27 <DesertRose>   Ew Evie!
Jan 31 19:38:38 <Shiral>   I insisted on only buying a place that gave me a full-sized bathtub, but usually, that has a drying rack with my clean laundry on it
Jan 31 19:38:57 <Jerusha>   Bugs in the bath - Ick
Jan 31 19:39:04 <Shiral>   But for years, I coped with the hobbit-sized bathtub in my former apartment
Jan 31 19:39:24 <The_Bee>   a sitz bath
Jan 31 19:39:27 <Shiral>   Okay, I had the boats, but NOT the bugs!
Jan 31 19:39:42 <Shiral>   It was really only usable as a shower.
Jan 31 19:39:42 <Evie>   LOL! I thought roly-polies were cute.  :-D
Jan 31 19:40:02 <Jerusha>   There is no such thing as a cute bug
Jan 31 19:40:04 <DesertRose>   They're plenty cute--outside!
Jan 31 19:40:06 <KK>   The tub in our master bath is where the cats' water bowl and dry crunchies live, so that they can snack upstairs without canine interference.  (Plus, we'd have even fatter dogs.)
Jan 31 19:40:08 <Eyikl>   I think I'd be afraid of drowning the bugs by mistake...
Jan 31 19:40:17 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Yeah, some of these old tubs are also very narrow.
Jan 31 19:40:33 <The_Bee>   Be glad you don't have to bring buckets of water from the well to fill the tub.
Jan 31 19:40:40 <DesertRose>   There is that, Bee.  :)
Jan 31 19:40:50 <Jerusha>   Good point, Bee
Jan 31 19:40:51 <Shiral>   Running water--a great  modern idea
Jan 31 19:41:02 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Oh, I couldn't lift them any more.
Jan 31 19:41:03 <KK>   I am definitely grateful for hot running water.
Jan 31 19:41:07 <DesertRose>   Oh yes.
Jan 31 19:41:18 <Shiral>   Sanitation--an even better idea
Jan 31 19:41:36 <DesertRose>   I like studying history, but I'm perfectly happy to live in a time with running water and flush toilets.
Jan 31 19:41:47 <BalanceTheEnergies>   As am I. I'm also keen on the hand-held shower head I added.
Jan 31 19:41:49 <Shiral>   Too right, DR!
Jan 31 19:41:55 <Jerusha>   And not hanging your clothes in the garderobe
Jan 31 19:42:01 <The_Bee>   We once had a summer cottage that was a converted boathouse.  He had a water pump for dishes andan outhouse.
Jan 31 19:42:04 <DesertRose>   Ew, yuck, right, Jerusha.
Jan 31 19:42:18 <Eyikl>   dido. Not to mention less sexism.
Jan 31 19:42:47 <Shiral>   Outhouses are for camping, and even then, I'm not thrilled!
Jan 31 19:43:16 <Jerusha>   Camping is not my thing
Jan 31 19:43:24 <DesertRose>   I don't mind using bath-houses at SCA events, but by the time the event is over, I'm pretty happy to get home to my actual bed and my bathroom.
Jan 31 19:43:29 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Now, if we could just maintain the infrastructure. I feel quite sorry for the people in Flint, Michigan.
Jan 31 19:43:45 <The_Bee>   Yes, that sucks.
Jan 31 19:43:49 <Shiral>   I'd love perhaps a holodeck version of Rhemuth circa 1228, but am less crazy about the santiary arrangements
Jan 31 19:43:56 <DesertRose>   Indeed, Shiral.
Jan 31 19:44:16 <Shiral>   Or the social strata for any period longer than a few hours visit
Jan 31 19:44:23 <DesertRose>   That too
Jan 31 19:44:27 <KK>   Sorry doesn't begin to describe.  Can't believe what the officials did to save a few dollars a day.  And lead never leaves one's body, once it's in the bones.
Jan 31 19:44:38 <Jerusha>   A VR version would be nice, though
Jan 31 19:45:09 <DesertRose>   A la what Morgan and Jen were messing with at the end of Balance of Power, Jerusha?
Jan 31 19:45:14 <Shiral>   The irony is that the clean up will cost far more for tax payers than whatever they were trying to save.
Jan 31 19:45:20 <Jerusha>   With a Duke of Corwyn as a guide.  :)
Jan 31 19:45:37 <Jerusha>   Yes, DR.
Jan 31 19:45:39 <Shiral>   Maybe we need to ask elected officials to take a "do no harm" oath
Jan 31 19:45:40 <DesertRose>   :)
Jan 31 19:45:41 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Well KK, I am angry with the officials too. Outraged, even.
Jan 31 19:46:07 <Shiral>   Yes, I'd really LOVE to get in on the next Coroth Castle tour. =o)
Jan 31 19:46:11 <BalanceTheEnergies>   I've heard some of the residents say they want the governor to have to use the water himself.
Jan 31 19:47:16 <KK>   Clean water is something we do take for granted in this country.  And they'd even put bottled water into the official buildings, so that <they> wouldn't have to drink what came out of the water fountains.
Jan 31 19:47:24 <Shiral>   Altogether, what happened in Flint was horrible. The parties responsible NEED to be answerable for it.
Jan 31 19:48:32 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Oh yes, I listened to Rachel Maddow on Stitcher. I hope those responsible are made to answer for it, but I fear rank has its privileges.
Jan 31 19:49:05 <Shiral>   We need to all support the people of Flint in their quest for justice.  There's no excuse for what was done.
Jan 31 19:50:39 *   Shiral drops pin.
Jan 31 19:50:44 <Shiral>   CLANG!
Jan 31 19:51:09 <BalanceTheEnergies>   I'd like to help, but I don't have much in the way of resources. Perhaps if I get tapped as a delegate or something it could go into the platform.
Jan 31 19:51:36 <The_Bee>   We should canada's example.  Their minister of health is a physician, and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness was a Scout.
Jan 31 19:52:04 <Shiral>   I meant more in the Public Outcry mode. Let Gov. Snyder know that it was unacceptable
Jan 31 19:52:36 <Eyikl>   I'm doubtful being a Scout really helps him.
Jan 31 19:52:37 <Shiral>   And the people it happened to are not the only people who are angry and shocked
Jan 31 19:53:02 <BalanceTheEnergies>   He's had people demand he resign. I'm not sure he cares much about public opinion.
Jan 31 19:53:03 <Eyikl>   That might help...
Jan 31 19:53:25 <Eyikl>   Or not. Can he be impeached?
Jan 31 19:53:27 <The_Bee>   Yes, but he should have been surrounded by advisers who knew what they were doing, not just the bottom line.
Jan 31 19:53:35 <Shiral>   He should be arrested, THEN impeached
Jan 31 19:53:56 <The_Bee>   He's said he's not resigning, that it's up to him to fix it.
Jan 31 19:54:33 <Shiral>   Somehow, I'm not holding my breath that he WILL, since he thought it was okay to do in the first place
Jan 31 19:55:17 <BalanceTheEnergies>   I agree with you Shiral, but I fear it won't work like that. I also find it disturbing that no one's getting all those pipes replaced. The water lines are ruined, as I understand it.
Jan 31 19:55:23 <Eyikl>   Maybe he thought it wasn't going to be as big a problem as it was.
Jan 31 19:55:56 <KK>   Well, on that note, I think I'll bow out.  It's almost time for Madame Secretary, where political things usually work out OK.  BTE, hope you survive the caucus.  And may the caucusers make wise decisions.
Jan 31 19:56:18 <Jerusha>   Night KK - have a good week
Jan 31 19:56:21 *   KK steps onto her Portal, waves goodnight, and disappears in a shower of green sparkles.
Jan 31 19:56:22 <DesertRose>   Okay, g'night KK.  See you next week for early chat?
Jan 31 19:56:24 <Shiral>   Exactly, BTE.  By trying to save a few thousand bucks, he caused a billion dollr problem in stead
Jan 31 19:56:26 <BalanceTheEnergies>   Thanks KK. I'll do my bit. Have a good week.
Jan 31 19:56:27 <The_Bee>   Assuring the folks that thew water was safe to drink was dishonest, to say the least.
Jan 31 19:56:28 <Eyikl>   Good night
Jan 31 19:56:28 <Shiral>   Night, KK!
Jan 31 19:56:32 <Shiral>   Have a good week
Jan 31 19:56:35 <KK>   Next week, 5PM Eastern TIme.
Jan 31 19:56:41 <DesertRose>   Have a great week!
Jan 31 19:56:47 <The_Bee>   thanks for coming, KK
Jan 31 19:56:50 <Shiral>   Be there or bet square, =o)
Jan 31 19:56:53 <DesertRose>   Thanks for hanging out with us!
Jan 31 19:56:56 <Evie>   Goodnight, KK!
Jan 31 19:57:02 *   KK has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
"If having a soul means being able to feel love, loyalty, and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."

James Herriot (James Alfred "Alfie" Wight), when a human client asked him if animals have souls.  (I don't remember in which book the story originally appeared.)
