Great book while waiting for the next Deryni novel. It has a unique story telling method - a woman writing about being a 16year old travelling around Europe in the 70s with her father listening to stories of when he travelled Europe in mid 50s retracing the path of his Professor/advisor's travels in the 30s. Beautiful descriptions of Istanbul, Budapest, monasteries in the Pyrrenes and elsewhere, and Wallachia (clue to whom they were looking for:)

I just read about an encounter with the Order of St Michael which made me think of this newsgroup and a cryptic letter from a monk named Kiril.
