[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:11 PM] <Evie> hi kk
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:13 PM] <KK> Hello, all.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:14 PM] <Alkari> I just have to keep active and I take Panadol at night
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:17 PM] <Alkari> Hi KK
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:19 PM] <Jemler> hi kk
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:24 PM] <Kldara> Hi, KK
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:43 PM] <Alkari> The treatment is what you would normally do for arthritis and muscular weakness anyway, and I started Tai Chi last week
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:55 PM] <Aerlys> I was recently put on an new antibiotic, and I started experiencing dizziness, numbness and tingling in my extremities. The cure is worse than the disease sometimes
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:08:58 PM] <KK> Tai Chi is cool.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:09:07 PM] <Alkari> I think I am going to enjoy it, KK
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:09:31 PM] <Aerlys> Hello KK
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:09:32 PM] <Alkari> It is nice gentle movement, all conentrating on softness and control
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:09:50 PM] <Dennis> Hi, KK!
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:09:54 PM] <Kldara> I love tai chi, but haven't been able to find an instructor since I moved
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:11 PM] <Dennis> Kildara, you're welcome to any of it, you can take. :)
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:13 PM] <Aerlys> Are you on gabapentin for your shoulder, Evie? That's what DS1 was on (one of the drugs, at least) after his accident
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:22 PM] <Kldara> Or rather, one close enough that i don't have to commute for 1/2 an hour
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:32 PM] <Kldara> Thanks, Dennis - would love to
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:33 PM] <KK> Try your local HS or Parks and Recreation. That's how I did it, back in Ireland.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:39 PM] <Alkari> I go up to a community hall about 10-15 mins drive away
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:51 PM] <Alkari> Its through the local council
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:10:54 PM] <Evie> not for the frozen shoulder, but for the (possible) nerve damage in that arm that caused me to restrict my movement and led to the frozen shoulder
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:11:11 PM] <KK> Evie, I take it that your shoulder is still bothering you.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:11:15 PM] <Kldara> Thanks, KK - did that. the only place nearby requires a membership with a hefty fee
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:11:26 PM] <Kldara> I'll keep lookkng
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:11:32 PM] <Evie> shoulder and arm, which is why i'm typing mostly one handed today
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:11:58 PM] * Aerlys sends woodgies to Evie
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:00 PM] <Evie> i'm having little stabbing twinges in my upper arm at random intervals
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:16 PM] <Alkari> the trouble with getting older is that you don't bounce anymore when you fall, and you get all sorts of odd things going wrong :(
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:23 PM] <Jemler> dennis, send evie some ice
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:31 PM] * Alkari sends healing thoughts to Evie
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:36 PM] <Jemler> send some to dr as well
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:40 PM] <Dennis> Nuh uh. I don't want Evie slipping and falling.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:42 PM] <KK> Of course, moving is better than not moving, if you can do it. Could you do some PT via your insurance, Evie?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:12:51 PM] <Evie> i can, kk
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:13:08 PM] <Dennis> I'll go with Alkari's idea and send healing thoughts instead.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:13:12 PM] <Evie> just haven't had a chance to sign up for it, since I've used up so much sick leave time on the other doctor appointments this year
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:13:30 PM] <Evie> i'm hoping i can squeeze in pt during my lunch hours
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:13:56 PM] <Alkari> I had a couple of sessions with my physio and she put me into traction for a bit! I did check the room to see if Ramsay Snow was anywhere nearby before I allowed her to fasten all the straps!
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:15:26 PM] <KK> Not nearly as much fun as sewing for the littles, but if it will make you feel better....
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:15:28 PM] <Alkari> But it certainly helped with my wonky hip that was giving trouble
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:15:38 PM] <Evie> kk, mini-duncan got a new cassock for his birthday this week
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:16:16 PM] <KK> Yeah, I did some last year for my back, and it helped. But when I stopped, the back got worse again. I need to resume the exercises he gave me.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:16:20 PM] <Evie> fortunately it's the left arm this time around, so i can still sew in moderation
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:16:27 PM] <KK> This getting older is not for wimps.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:16:34 PM] <Evie> lol
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:17:08 PM] <Alkari> Agree, KK
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:17:15 PM] <Jemler> that's why i decided not to do it.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:17:28 PM] <Alkari> The Peter Pan of the Deryniverse
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:17:31 PM] <KK> I looked at the website this afternoon, and realized I'd not checked in since Duncan and Helena were decorating their Christmas tree. Please do post a pic of him in his new cassock.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:18:15 PM] <KK> Speaking of hops, have we heard from The Bee since last week?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:18:25 PM] <KK> hips
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:18:25 PM] <Evie> it's on there, but i accidentally posted the pics in the mini-deryni photo art thread instead of the regular one
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:18:40 PM] <Evie> not since last sunday
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:18:44 PM] <Alkari> Is that the one of him in the new purple outfit, Evie?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:18:53 PM] <Evie> yes alkari
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:19:00 PM] <Alkari> Looks very smart
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:19:38 PM] <Alkari> tpestry background is appropriate
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:21:12 PM] <Evie> about midway down this page, kk http://www.rhemuthcastle.com/index.php/topic,1226.15.html
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:23:21 PM] <Evie> the tapestry background pic is actually on page 3 of that thread, kk
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:23:45 PM] <Evie> that's my favorite pillow, alkari. :D
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:24:31 PM] <Alkari> yours or the cat's?

[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:24:52 PM] <Evie> mine, since it's at work where the cat can't get to it anymore
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:25:08 PM] <Alkari> wise move
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:25:43 PM] <Evie> welcome, mib_i69uaw! If you want to change your name, try /nick NewName
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:25:51 PM] <Alkari> wish I could have a cat.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:25:59 PM] <mib_i69uaw> cat can't get at what?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:26:11 PM] <Evie> my tapestry pillow
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:26:57 PM] <Alkari> Must admit that Duncan's hairstyle tends to remind me of the pudding-bowl haircut on Steve Irwin's son :(
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:27:01 PM] <KK> Looks nice, Evie. Any way to do a standing collar?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:27:19 PM] <Evie> lol alkari!
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:27:36 PM] <Evie> maybe, kk, but haven't figured out how yet
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:27:51 PM] <Evie> and haven't seen one in period art anyway
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:28:16 PM] Quit Alkari has left this server (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:28:28 PM] <Evie> at least nothing that looks like a modern style standing collar, but i think it evolved from the amice, didn't it?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:28:55 PM] Join Alkari has joined this channel (Mibbit@OWIRCN-fcbe689b.internode.on.net).
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:28:57 PM] <KK> Probably. But I do picture them in standing collars.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:29:04 PM] <Evie> wb alkari
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:29:16 PM] <Dennis> Just came across a random thing on Wikipedia. Apparently, Creoda was the first king of Mercia.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:29:21 PM] <Evie> ok, i'll see if i can figure out how to add one
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:29:24 PM] <Aerlys> rehi, Alkari
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:29:27 PM] <Alkari> thanks - Mibbit just started flickering badly so I logged out then back again
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:29:53 PM] <Evie> still haven't made a cummerbund style cincture. my spool of purple ribbon is missing
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:30:23 PM] <Evie> and can't find purple fringe, but i have gold fringe if that will do. I've seen purple cummerbund cinctures with gold fringe online

[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:31:55 PM] <Kldara> KK - do you mean like the color on a clergy shirt before adding the collar, or like the rolled collar on a cassock-alb?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:32:33 PM] Nick mib_yip1zj is now known as The_Bee.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:32:39 PM] <Alkari> Hi Bee
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:32:43 PM] <KK> Like on a clergy shirt. But the more rolled collar would work for our purposes.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:32:43 PM] <Kldara> Or like the collar on a basic cassock
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:32:52 PM] <Jemler> hi bee

[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:33:25 PM] <The_Bee> hi laurna
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:33:28 PM] <KK> Bee! We were just wondering how you're doing.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:33:34 PM] <Alkari> Hi Laurna
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:33:43 PM] <Laurna> Bee how are your feeling well I hope
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:34:21 PM] <Jemler> hi laurna
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:34:29 PM] <The_Bee> I'm still at the post surgery rehab center. We're supposed to have ameeting Tuesday to decide when I can go home.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:34:35 PM] <Laurna> Hi Jemler,
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:35:02 PM] <Alkari> How are you feeling?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:35:04 PM] <Laurna> I hope the food is good
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:35:15 PM] <Evie> i need to look up a cassock-alb to see what you mean
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:35:33 PM] <Evie> hi bee
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:36:17 PM] <KK> A cassock alb is a fairly modern invention, but the collar is probably more like what would have been possible medievally.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:36:20 PM] <Kldara> The rolled collar can be created by extending the neck to form a kind of tube (needs to be lined and interlined a little) and then folding it down to the desired height. Don't know how difficult that would be in minature. I am in awe of Evie's work.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:37:53 PM] <Kldara> The collar on a cassock alb, I've always thought, is supposed to suggest a folded down hood - sort of. At least that't why I always thought since when they first appeared, there were also hooded albs available (kind of like a cowl without the dramatic sleeves).
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:38:19 PM] <Kldara> Sorry - lots of typos in that last
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:38:30 PM] <Evie> I've seen some hooded capelets with the hood down to create a folded collar-like effect with a gap in front. Might that have a similar effect?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:39:32 PM] Quit The_Bee has left this server (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:39:33 PM] <Kldara> Yes, Evie
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:40:55 PM] <Evie> it would be easy to add a hood to the capelet and then fold it down collar-like
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:40:57 PM] <Aerlys> Bad mibbit, picking on Bee like that!
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:41:19 PM] <KK> Yeah, the folded-down hood could create the right effect.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:41:45 PM] <Evie> or i can try to copy my 1:6 modern- style priest dickey (it has another name but I forget what) to see if I can make a purple fronted one to wear under the cassock
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:42:12 PM] <Laurna> I still don't have a camera shot of the new action figure horse but he looks good next to my knight.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:42:36 PM] <KK> Or he could just wear that under the cassock.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:42:41 PM] <Evie> doing a stand up neckline requires more fitting at the neck opening than I'm usually able to achieve, given my trial-and-error style of fitting rather than using a pattern
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:42:48 PM] <Aerlys> nice, Laurna
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:43:06 PM] <Evie> no, the one I have would show black under the cassock opening
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:43:06 PM] <Alkari> sounds good Laurna - look forward to pics
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:43:18 PM] <Kldara> Don't call it "trial and error," Evie - call is "draping." Very couture.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:43:22 PM] <Evie> so unless it's meant to look that way, Ithink the folded hood would work better

[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:04 PM] <Laurna> Hi Jerusah
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:05 PM] <Evie> in terms of garment creation, I drape, but as for the neck openingg, that's usually guessing what size hole to cut and then either doing a rolled hem or adding a facing, then hoping i guessed right
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:12 PM] <Laurna> Jerusha
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:15 PM] <Jerusha> Hi Everyone! Sorry to be so late.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:21 PM] <Evie> and the hole usually has to be cut large to get it over Duncan's hair
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:31 PM] <Dennis> Hi, Jerusha!
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:36 PM] Join EPCarpenter has joined this channel (Mibbit@OWIRCN-77e74e90.nj.comcast.net).

[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:38 PM] <Alkari> LOL @ couture draping. All the little folk have lovely couture clothes.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:54 PM] <KK> That <is> a problem. YOu don't want to behead him every time he changes clothes.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:44:55 PM] <EPCarpenter> Hello again...
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:45:03 PM] <Jerusha> Losing one's head for a wardrobe change?
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:45:30 PM] <KK> Hello, EPC. Staying warm? There's weather headed your way, isn't there? Certainly coming after Bee.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:45:31 PM] <Aerlys> rehi, Eric
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:45:41 PM] <Jerusha> Hi EPC
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:45:42 PM] <Evie> so neckhole size always has to factor in the opening size needed for a pullover garment, unless I'm going to do a hidden closure in back
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:45:59 PM] <Evie> but that creates other difficulties
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:01 PM] <Kldara> Yeah that is a problem, especially since the arms don't bend either - I used to have that problem when I made baby doll clothes.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:04 PM] <EPCarpenter> Some weather. Luckily today's high melted off most of the snow and ice.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:15 PM] <Aerlys> (well, he was a Ken doll. Losing his head over new clothes might not be such a stretch :) )
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:22 PM] <Evie> oh, all of my figures have bendable arms. I refuse to keep them on non posing bodies
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:24 PM] <Kldara> LOL Aerlys
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:37 PM] <Evie> Duncan is on a Triad Evo action figure body, so very poseable
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:51 PM] <Evie> but even so, plastic bodies have limitations
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:46:58 PM] <Evie> and his arms don't come off easily like Helena's do
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:00 PM] <Kldara> That makes sense.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:03 PM] <Alkari> he needs custom physio
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:13 PM] <Evie> For some of her outfits, I remove her hands to get them into tight sleeves
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:23 PM] <Jerusha> Ick!
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:24 PM] <Evie> and even remove her arms as needed to get into fitted bodices
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:28 PM] <Laurna> Ooch evie
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:37 PM] <KK> Ouch!
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:47:50 PM] <Jerusha> Evie's little house of wardrobe horrors
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:48:06 PM] <Alkari> After one lot of physio following surgery, I told my physio that it would probably be a lot easier if she just took my arm out of the socket and put it back where she wanted it to be.
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:48:10 PM] <Evie> with duncan that's more of an ordeal because his hands aren't easily removable and his arms aren't removable at all. And while his neck comes off easily for now, I would rather not take it off if I don't have to
[Sunday, February 08, 2015] [07:48:30 PM] <Laurna> For my larger porcelian dolls you have to make large puffy sleeves just to dress them or make right and left sides and sew them together after she is dressed
